Designing a PI Controller to Specifications

This is lab 5 of 6 in the course

Students learn to design a PI (proportional-integral) compensator based on specifications to control speed. In the lab, students first study the derivation of the transfer function, peak time, and overshoot. Then they complete an in-lab activity to track a reference speed square wave with various PI gains and investigate the effects of set-point weights.
