Getting Started with IoT using SystemLink Cloud

In this lab, students will implement a cloud-based IoT platform using SystemLink Cloud. Students will experiment with a monitoring system and central processing web package. Additionally, they will learn about best practices, tools, and capabilities of the SystemLink Cloud platform. Finally, students implement a measurement from their own edge-node device and write it to the cloud.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

After completing this lab, students will be able to:

Discuss the uses, advantages, and capabilities of a cloud-enabled IoT soltion, as compared to a distributed data acquisition system
Learn and implement various aspects of LabVIEW and SystemLink Cloud that allow your VI to collect, analyze, package, and share simulated data through the cloud from various internet-enabled devices and with multiple users
Deploy SystemLink Cloud code on the NI ELVIS III and publish real-time measurement data
Provide real-life examples showcasing the distinctive abilities of "cloud-enabled" and cloud-native applicaitons for an IoT involving measurement and control systems

REQUIRED SKILLS

Basic proficiency using LabVIEW and SystemLink Cloud
Basic proficiency using ELVIS III Instruments
Basic knowledge of components and their behaviors
