In this lab, students will learn how to implement the <, > and = operations in a combinational logic circuit. They will use Multisim to build and simulate comparator circuits, and then deploy them onto the FPGA of the DSDB board.
After completing this lab, students will be able to:
Understand the purpose of a sub circuit within a larger circuit in the Multisim PLD schematic.
Recognize that comparators can be constructed with logic gates or chips that can be combined if/when the number of bits increases.
Reflect on the similarities and differences between adders and comparators.
